This week will conclude our focus on the First Read/Close Read/Multiple Read WICOR strategy. It has been exciting to read the thoughts of those who have shared about new learning regarding this topic. To close out this month, I wanted to share a link to anchor charts that you could create and use in the classroom to remind your students and yourself about the importance of close reads and multiple reads. I hope you enjoy exploring the site and maybe even creating an anchor chart or two to use in your rooms. Thanks for all you continue to do for our students. I enjoyed visiting the shared Jamboard about the video clip shared last week. If you'd like to see what colleagues shared click HERE to review. This week I wanted to share a tool that student's could use to help them during their first or multiple reads of a text. I know the example included on the Self-monitoring checklist is a high level text but I also know I work with amazing educators who can see how adapting this checklist to other texts or using as a tool that students can complete when independently reading can intentionally help our students attend to texts they are reading. Have you used a tool like this before? If so, I would love for you to share strategies or thoughts HERE  (go to the second board). Thank you for trying new WICOR strategies in your rooms and being open to honing your craft. I am continually amazed by the group of professionals I get to work with each day!   This month I'd like for us to explore the importance of first reads, close reads, and multiple reads. For this week, I'd like to focus on the strategy listed on the WICOR playbook the district has shared. If you get a chance to review the link you will see how vital this skill is and this should be a familiar share with those staff members using HMH because the re-reading of stories is built into the modules you execute. This link has a great graphic organizer to help students discover how reading the same text multiple times can given them more information after each read. The three main purposes of the multiple reads are: PURPOSE FOR 1ST READ Gaining a general understanding of the text. PURPOSE FOR 2ND READ Examine language and structure of text . PURPOSE FOR 3RD READ Make inferences, craft opinions and arguments, and make intertextual connections . Next week, I'll share a video of this in practice as well as other resources that you maybe able to utilize  in y...
