Reminders:

  • Winter Reading Challenge Sheets can be placed in Dr. Hill's Box but PLEASE make sure every students name is on their sheet AND teacher's name (can hold and paperclip all forms and return them on Friday if you'd like); The prize for the book challenge will be announced next week once I get a count of participants.
  • Books from the Book Blast and shopping certificates will be arriving soon. I will keep you posted and how we will celebrate the fun.
  • Certified Staff evaluated in NCEES: Please review your PDP and update for your MidYear PDPs. Administration will be meeting with all staff members to review your goals, EVAAS data (if applicable), attendance, MVP/mClass Data (if applicable), and Walkthrough Data. A schedule for these meetings will be shared next week.
  • Attendance: PLEASE review the presentation Tina shared in August. You will need to VIEW this ASAP and understand that these protocols need to be followed. If you have a question, please email Tina and copy Dr. Hill.

As many of you know, at Dixon Road ES we will be celebrating the love of reading all month for Read Across America. I am excited to have time to celebrate authors, books, and hopefully ignite a love of reading in some students who don't have it already. HERE you will find events planned for the month. It is the expectation that at least twice this month you meet with your buddy class to read. The list of buddy classes can be found on the calendar in the notes section at the bottom. Week of 10/23

  This week, I wanted to share a quick video that illustrates the GIST Strategy that can be found on the walkthrough tool under Reading Strategies. To hep students get the gist (get it...gist) of the strategy you could do as a class a few times and then after some time and with scaffolding as needed you can gradually release it to students to complete it independently. Also, please know that I placed the  WICOR Playbook on our dashboard under Instructional /Digital Resources for your convenience.
