  • The Bracelet Station is set up in the lounge area in the office. Feel free to make a bracelet between meetings, setting up your room, and PD. Will leave out until Labor Day.
  • The BOY Checklist is ready. Please click here and it will have you make a copy. Please review due dates and let me know if you have any questions.
  • Forms for families to complete at Open House are all digital and the links can be found here. Please note that the Parent Gazette will be added to this site by Tuesday's orientation times (for other schools), and the district will deliver 25 English and 25 Spanish copies of the Gazette to each campus. They will also be delivering a printed copy of instructions for family members to download the mobile app and access Rooms for each student to our campus prior to our orientation time.
  • A copy of this sheet will be in your mailbox before Open House for you to post in classrooms to encourage families to download the JCPS App.
  • Ms. Glover, our Elementary Learning Facilitator, will be at DRES on Mondays and will alternate her Thursdays and Fridays between Polenta, WCES, and us. Stay posted for more details regarding her schedule.
  • As you meet with your team, please complete this document once you have selected your weekly planning day. Every grade will need to complete since location of meeting info is requested.

Have an amazing week as we put the finishing touches on our plans for a smooth opening. I am still reviewing options for organizing students inside for dismissal so if you team did not send me ideas, it is not too late. Please email them to me before the end of day tomorrow.

    • Focus: Be A Shining Example of Safety (Active Shooter Review, Safety Meeting, etc.)
  • Lunch hosted by Restoration Church in the Cafeteria 12:30
    • Tabletop Scenario Activities over Lunch
  • Hill in meeting 1:00-2:15 (virtual)
Thursday, August 24 (Required School Workday)
  • 2 hour Late Arrival or 2 hour lunch in exchange for Open House Hours
  • Friendly Church will drop off Brunch Goodies outside of the Media Center for you to enjoy during our morning meeting.
  • 4th School Meeting 10:00-12:00 in Media Center (Certified)
    • Focus: Future's So Bright (PowerSchool, Delegate Info Sessions, Educator's Handbook, Nurse Update, Commitment Ceremony and Toast etc.)
  • Open House 4:00-6:00 PM

  • Prayer Walk at DRES at  4PM Hosted by Overflow Church (staff invited to attend if interested)

As many of you know, at Dixon Road ES we will be celebrating the love of reading all month for Read Across America. I am excited to have time to celebrate authors, books, and hopefully ignite a love of reading in some students who don't have it already. HERE you will find events planned for the month. Week of 10/23

  This week, I wanted to share a quick video that illustrates the GIST Strategy that can be found on the walkthrough tool under Reading Strategies. To hep students get the gist (get it...gist) of the strategy you could do as a class a few times and then after some time and with scaffolding as needed you can gradually release it to students to complete it independently. Also, please know that I placed the  WICOR Playbook on our dashboard under Instructional /Digital Resources for your convenience.
