We're so close to our much needed break. Thanks for much for all you have done to continue to provide a sound education to our students this month. I hope you have had a great weekend and you've been enjoying our 2023 December to Remember. If you haven't booked your massage, please do that HERE and don't forget a copy of the student edition of a December to Remember can be found here. Thank you to Ms. Wood, Ms. Byrd, Ms. Mangum, Ms. Jordan, and Ms. Byrd for serving as secret snowman last week. I need new snowmen for each hall so if interested text, Telegram, or email me. All you will need to do is send me the name of a student you observed following expectation on your hall. That name can be sent in Telegram, text, or email but just need before announcements each morning. ⛄

I hope you enjoy your break and I challenge you to READ over the break. Would love to celebrate you in January when we recognize our Winter Reading Challenge Students. Unsure what that will look like for the staff, but if you read over break make sure you keep a record of what your read and why you picked it. I will follow up in my December 31st Blog with more details.📚

       Don’t be the last to get tagged.  
      Game ends at 4:15. 
       Those that still have a noodle at the end of the game will wear provided Snowman Ensemble on Tuesday, December 18th.
      (provided by Dr. Hill) all day Tuesday.  You can keep this ensemble.

    • There will be 15 hidden images of hot chocolate. If students spot one they can ask an adult to grab it for them or they can get and then ask staff member to come to office to collect their prize when you want to send them. Make sure they bring the picture with them.

  • Please make sure you follow information from Mr. Bates regarding closing down the room for the break.

As many of you know, at Dixon Road ES we will be celebrating the love of reading all month for Read Across America. I am excited to have time to celebrate authors, books, and hopefully ignite a love of reading in some students who don't have it already. HERE you will find events planned for the month. Week of 10/23

  This week, I wanted to share a quick video that illustrates the GIST Strategy that can be found on the walkthrough tool under Reading Strategies. To hep students get the gist (get it...gist) of the strategy you could do as a class a few times and then after some time and with scaffolding as needed you can gradually release it to students to complete it independently. Also, please know that I placed the  WICOR Playbook on our dashboard under Instructional /Digital Resources for your convenience.
